Cleveland City Stars News Release

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Cleveland City Stars are hitting the road this week to take on the Montreal Impact on Wednesday, July 22nd at 7:45 p.m. It will be the first match-up between the two squads in franchise history.

The City Stars are currently on an undefeated streak after shutting out first-place Puerto Rico and third-place Charleston in the past two games. Both games ended in a 0-0 draw, proving the development and growth of the City Stars defense. The City Stars record has improved to 2-10-6 and need just one win to pull out of the bottom spot in USL League Standings.

Forward Joshua Boateng remains the team's leading goal-scorer with four goals, while fellow forward Ricardo Pierre-Louis has contributed three goals. Midfielder Pato Aguilera leads the City Stars in assists with five. Aguilera played in 23 matches last season for the Impact and registered one goal and one assist. Goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap has also been a standout and was recently named to the Week 14 USL-1 Team of the Week.

The Montreal Impact is presently in seventh place in league standings, with a 5-8-3 record. Led by leading goal-scorer Roberto Brown with three of the club's 14 season goals, the Impact offense has struggled against the more talented squads in the league. After falling to Puerto Rico, Rochester and Charleston, the Impact did clinch important victories over Austin, Vancouver and Miami. Montreal is currently battling to remain in playoff contention, sitting in the lowest qualifying spot.

Kickoff is at 7:45 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22nd. The game will be broadcast live on USLlive.com. The City Stars continue on the road on Saturday, July 25th at 7:35 p.m. in Rochester, New York when they take on the rival Rochester Rhinos.

Joshua Boateng On Trial With Spanish First Division Club Deportivo de La Coruña.

City Stars leading goal scorer Joshua Boateng will be in Europe for the next few weeks while on trial with Spanish First Division club Deportivo de La Coruña.

Now a rookie in the USL, Boateng's debut season has included a team-leading four goals in 11 matches.

"We're excited for J.B. to get this opportunity and the entire team wishes him the best," said City Stars Head Coach Rod Underwood. "This is a tremendous opportunity for a young player like J.B. and we expect him to go over there and do well."
