City Islanders Partner with Deloitte to Make Impact
June 8, 2006 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Penn FC News Release
(Harrisburg, PA, June 8, 2006) - Several Harrisburg City Islanders players will participate in "IMPACT Day," a national day of community service conducted by Deloitte & Touche USA LLP this Friday, June 9.
City Islander players will join Deloitte employees as they work to enhance and beautify areas of City Island by painting and staining decks and railings, cleaning bleachers, clearing weeds, and general cleanup. The event will take place, rain or shine, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. City Islanders will attend from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
IMPACT Day encourages all of Deloitte's 34,000 employees to set aside work to participate in more than 500 hands-on projects in 140 locations. In Harrisburg, Deloitte is helping non-profits and the City of Harrisburg "nail down" pressing needs otherwise difficult to fund. Employees will 'adopt a lot' as part of Pennsylvania's Weed and Seed Project, package and distribute meat products with Central Pennsylvania Food Bank and train as future disaster volunteers under the Red Cross program Ready When the Time Comes. Services will also be provided to Caitlin's Smiles, the Humane Society, and the Tri-County Association for the Blind.
"The City Islanders are thrilled to be able to help in this worthy cause," said City Islanders General Manager Joe Sierko. "We are proud to have Deloitte as part of our family of corporate partners; on Friday, we will be proud to act with them as partners in our community."
