
City Islanders Ink Up-and-Coming Midfielder

Harrisburg, PA â The Harrisburg City Islanders have augmented their midfield with the signing of Andy Guastaferro, it was announced today. The 26-year-old began training with the club this week, meaning he could make his debut this Friday, June 18, when the Islanders host the Long Island Roughriders. Kickoff at Skyline Sports Complex is 7:35 p.m.
Guastaferro (pronounced gus-tuh-FAIR-oh) comes to Harrisburg after completing an impressive first season with the Philadelphia KiXX of the Major Indoor Soccer League. In 34 games with the KiXX in 2003-04, he scored 11 goals and assisted on seven others for 18 points, earning favorable reviews for his work ethic and versatility.
Prior to joining the KiXX, Guastaferro played for the Charlotte Eagles (2000-03) and New Orleans Storm (1999) of the A-League, and spent time with the Premier Development League's Mid-Michigan Bucks in 1998. The native of Canandaigua, NY, earned New England Region All-Star honors following his senior season at the University of Maine. The 5-10, 175-pound middle man also played for La Vitréene in France during the 1999 and 2000 seasons.
J.T. DORSEY NAMED TO PSL TEAM OF THE WEEK
City Islanders defender J.T. Dorsey has been named to the PSL Team of the Week, keeping alive the team's streak of at least one player on every possible Team of the Week this season.
Dorsey made his third start of the season scored Harrisburg's lone goal in the team's 2-1 road loss to the Williamsburg Legacy this past Saturday. It was the second tally of 2004 for the powerful center back.
Dorsey is the ninth different Islander to earn weekly honors this season, joining Keith Costigan (twice), Steve Fisher, Dave Kern, John Lapore, Derek Potteiger (twice), David Schofield, Matt Shealer, and Pete Shellenberger.
The Harrisburg City Islanders are playing their inaugural season in the Pro Soccer League (PSL), a division of the United Soccer Leagues (USL). The club's 20-game regular season (10 home, 10 away) opened on April 17 and will conclude on Saturday, August 14, at home against the Charlotte Eagles.
