Mahoning Valley Phantoms News Release

Cleveland, Ohio (Saturday, November 21, 2004) -- Tonight a three-point effort by Anthony Ciraulo led the Youngstown Phantoms Junior-A hockey club to an impressive 5-1 road victory over the Cleveland Barons. The hard-working center from Clinton Township, Michigan, contributed two goals and an assist as the Phantoms improved their North American Hockey League record to 12-5-0. With the victory, Youngstown moved into a tie for first place in the North Division with the USA National Team (also 12-5-0). Those two teams will face each other tomorrow (Sunday, November 21) at 7:00 p.m. at The Ice Zone in Boardman.

Youngstown led 1-0 after the first period on a goal by Dale Michonski, and increased its advantage to 3-0 on second-period tallies by Billy Glynn and Ciraulo. Cleveland's leading goal getter -- Jacob Cepis -- got his team on the scoreboard early in the third period, but the Phantoms put the game away on a goal by Kyle Laughlin and another by Ciraulo. Youngstown out-shot the Barons, 36-24, as goaltender Tommy O'Brien improved his personal record to 4-1-0.
