Cincinnati Kings News Release
RICHMOND, Va (April 23) --The Cincinnati Kings win their first match of the young 2006 season, defeating the Richmond Kickers, 1-0, Sunday afternoon at Richmond in United Soccer Leagues Second Division action.
The match was re-scheduled from Saturday night, because of heavy thunderstorms and a wet field at the University of Richmond Stadium.
The lone goal came in the second half, at the 50th minute of play when Derek Smith scored on a feed from Nowaf Jaman. The Kings had five shots on goal in the contest, compared to Richmond's six.
For the second game in a row, Head Coach Jon Pickup was not with the team because of a death in the family. John McGinlay served as acting coach.
The Kings are now 1-1-0 in the 2006 season, while Richmond, in its first year in the league, is now 0-1-0. The Kings stay on the road next weekend to face the Harrisburg City Islanders on Saturday, April 29 in Harrisburg.
