Cincinnati Kings News Release
BALTIMORE (May 5) The Cincinnati Kings earned their first win of the 2007 season Saturday night, going on the road to defeat Crystal Palace Baltimore, 1-0, in United Soccer Leagues Second Division action.
The Kings scored the lone goal of the night in the 87th minute from Bret Jones, with an assist by Kevin McCloskey.
"We had to work way too hard for this victory," said Coach Jon Pickup. "We should have taken control of this game from the outset, but we did not. But we got a win, and that's the most important thing."
The Kings took 11 shots to Baltimore's 14, and both teams had four saves. Cincinnati had three corner kicks on the night, Baltimore nine.
The win improves the Kings' record on the season to 1-2. The Kings next game will be Wednesday, May 9, at the expansion Bermuda Hogges' National Stadium. The Kings next home game will be Saturday, May 12 against the Cleveland City Stars at the Town and Country Sports Complex in Wilder, Ky.
