Cincinnati Kings News Release

CINCINNATI (April 9, 2007) - The Cincinnati Kings have announced that three new players have been signed for the 2007 season. Additionally, two key players from last year, Thies Hermann and Kevin McCloskey, have been re-signed for the 2007 season. The new players signed are midfielders Sam Miller and Kwame Sarkodie and goalkeeper Craig Salvati.

"I believe that the signings will really solidify the team and hopefully be the next step to compete for a championship in 2007," said Kings Head Coach, Jon Pickup. "We made the playoffs last year and are looking to improve on that this year."

Local talent will be filling the ranks with former University of Cincinnati stars Sarkodie and Miller. Sarkodie, a 2003 graduate of Carroll High School, scored two goals and had two assists in 1055 minutes with the Bearcats in 2006. A native of Dayton, Ohio, Sarkodie played a versatile role in the midfield for the Bearcats since his freshman season in 2003.

Miller, a 2003 graduate of Anderson High School, was a four-year starter and co-captain of the Bearcats in their 2006 season. He was a solid presence in the central midfield for the Bearcats and scored two goals in 1699 minutes in 2006. Miller brings his ability to play both defense and midfield to the Kings for their 2007 campaign.

Salvati is a 2006 University of Maryland graduate and a 2001 graduate of Lakota West High School. He still holds the record for career shutouts (42) and consecutive minutes (6480) for Ohio high school soccer. While at Maryland, Salvati earned an 81.4% save percentage while logging five shutouts and 1261 minutes in the net.

A native of Belfast, McCloskey brought hard-nosed play to the midfield in the Kings' 2006 season. McCloskey started in all 18 of the games he played in, logging one goal in 807 minutes of play.

Thies Hermann, a native of Hamburg, Germany, turned out to be a versatile second-half sub for the Kings. Hermann logged 225 minutes in seven games for the Kings in their 2006 season.
