
Cincinnati Kings shut out New Hampshire Phantoms, 2-0

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Kings surprised the third-place New Hampshire Phantoms with a 2-0 shut out tonight at Xavier University Soccer Complex. The Kings now stand at 5-5-3 in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division and also ended the Phantoms' two-game winning streak.
The first Kings' goal was scored by Michael McGinlay with an assist by Josh Barton during the stoppage time in the first half. Barton played it to McGinlay on a set play from just outside the corner of the box and McGinlay blasted it home. The second goal came in the second half as Jon Caldwell chipped it to Tiest Sondaal from the side of the box and Sondaal finished it in the 53rd minute.
Jordan James recorded his sixth shutout of the season for the Kings with three saves. The Kings out shot the Kings 16-12.
The Kings win ended a three-game losing streak over the last week that also included four player transactions including two (Jeff Hughes and Jack Cummings) loaned to the Wilmington Hammerheads for the weekend. John Liersemann and Travis Sobers were placed on the inactive list. John Krause was loaned in return to the Kings from the Hammerheads and Phillip Koshi was signed.
The Kings return to action in two weeks with games on Friday, July 21 versus the Long Island Rough Riders and on Sunday, July 23 against Harrisburg City Islanders. For ticket information, visit www.cincinnatikings.com.
