Cincinnati Kings Pull Off Upset at Home Over Richmond

Wilder, KY (July 20, 2007)-- In a tight defensive matchup, the Cincinnati Kings pulled off the upset victory over the division-leading Richmond Kickers Friday night, 1-0, in United Soccer Leagues Second Division action at the Town & Country Sports Complex.

The contest was scoreless until the 70th minute, when Nathan Micklos, who had just entered the game for the Kings, scored on a deflection off Richmond goaltender Ronnie Pascale. The Kings' Phillip Glaser had a direct shot on goal that Pascale stopped, but the carom went right to Micklos for the point-blank goal.

For the Kings, it was their first win in 11 matches. In their last five home games, the Kings have scored eight of their 10 goals in the second half.

Kings' goalie Francois Dubourdeau was strong in the net, stopping 12 Richmond shots. For the game, Richmond had 20 shots on goal, to the Kings' 11.

The Kings' record is now 3-9-4 for the season. The Richmond Kickers stand at 11-2-2. The Kings continue their home stand next Friday, July 27, as they face the Charlotte Eagles at 7:30 p.m. at the Town & Country Sports Complex.
