Rochester Hills, MI: The Cincinnati Kings were eliminated from the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup as they dropped their second round match to the Michigan Bucks, 2-1, on Wednesday night at Stoney Creek High School in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The game was available for Kings fans to listen to via a live audio broadcast on the teams website. The Bucks started the scoring just after the opening kickoff when Ty Shipalane scored within the first minute of play. Chris Edwards was credited with the assist on the goal. The Kings got their legs under them after that as they controlled the remainder of the first half setting up many scoring opportunities. The Kings finally converted one of those opportunities in the 36th minute as Mike McGinlay pressured a Michigan defender into a turnover which McGinlay converted for a Kings goal. The score would remain 1-1 going into halftime.

The Bucks struck again just after halftime as Nate Jafta scored what proved to be the deciding goal in the 48th minute. Edwards was credited with his second assist of the game on the goal. Following the same script as the first half, the Kings rallied after giving up an early goal to take control of the pace of play. However, despite having quality chances, the Kings were unable to notch another goal in the second half.
