CINCINNATI (June 3, 2006) --The Cincinnati Kings lost 1-0 to the Richmond Kickers in a match in front of 1,263 at the Xavier University Soccer Complex.

The first-place Kickers made their first appearance in Cincinnati after dropping down to the Second Division from the First Division last year. Michael Burke struck early for the Kickers in the 14th minute off a free kick.

The Kickers started six different players from the two teams' earlier matchup this year on April 23 in Richmond. That game ended with the Kings on the winning end of a 1-0 score.

"With their new lineup, they have improved their quality of play," said Kings assistant coach John MacGinlay. "We rallied in the second half and picked up our play, but we just could not find the net tonight."

The Kings had 12 shots on goal to the Kickers 11. Richmond goalkeeper Ronnie Pascale had seven saves posting the shutout. Kings goalkeeper Jordan James had four saves.

The Kings travel to Pittsburgh next weekend as they will take on the Riverhounds on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. The Kings and Riverhounds played to a scoreless tie in Cincinnati on May 13.

The next home game for the Kings is June 17 versus the Charlotte Eagles at the Xavier University Soccer Complex at 7:00 p.m.

The Kings now stand at 3-3-1 with 10 points.
