Cincinnati Kings drop rematch to Pittsburgh

Cincinnati Kings News Release

CINCINNATI --The Cincinnati Kings suffered their second loss in a row Saturday night, dropping a 2-0 contest to the Pittsburgh Riverhounds in United Soccer Leagues action at the Xavier University Soccer Complex.

It was a reversal of fortune for the Kings, who beat the Riverhounds, 2-1, at Xavier earlier this month.

The Riverhounds got the only goal they needed in the seventh minute, from Tim Bezbatchenko, with an assist from Vincente Bastidas. Their insurance goal came in the 83rd minute from Evoud Thompson, with the assist by Reggie Koranteng.

"I've always been impressed with our work ethic in the past, but not in this game," said a disappointed Coach Jon Pickup. "We're not getting it done. Hopefully, we'll decide to turn it around."

The Kings had eight shots on goal to the Riverhounds' seven. Each team had three saves and 20 fouls. A crowd of 1,410 was on hand for the game. "One of the goals this season was to be undefeated at home," said Pickup. "That's gone out the window. We disappointed this great crowd as well as disappointed ourselves."

The Kings are now 3-2-2, while Pittsburgh breaks a two game losing streak and now stands at 2-3-0. The next game for the Kings is Friday night at 7:30 p.m., as the Kings play host to the Wilmington Hammerheads at the Xavier University Soccer Complex.
