Cincinnati Kings News Release

CINCINNATI--The Cincinnati Kings remain undefeated this season against second place Charlotte, battling to a 2-2 tie Saturday night in United Soccer Leagues action at the Xavier University Soccer Complex. A crowd of 1,443 saw the Kings get on the board first, in the 15th minute, on a goal by Jack Cummings with the assist from John Liersemann. Less than a minute later, the Eagles evened the score on an unassisted goal by former Miami (Ohio) Redhawk and Worthington, Ohio, native Dustin Swinehart. The Kings took a 2-1 lead into halftime when new Kings forward Moussa Dagnogo scored on the assist from Tiest Sondaal. "We had good forward play, and that's what kept us in the game," said Head Coach Jon Pickup. "We didn't change our offense at half, because of the way we attacked early." The Kings kept the lead until the 55th minute, when Swinehart scored again, this time with the assist from Ryan Dinunzio. Both defenses clamped down in the second half, with each side allowing only four shots on goal in the final 45 minutes. Charlotte had 15 total shots for the game to the Kings' 10. The Kings now stand at 5-5-5 for the season, in fifth place in the division. The Eagles are now at 8-3-2. The Kings defeated the Eagles at Charlotte, 1-0, last week. The Kings have a rare bye week next weekend but return to action on Friday, July 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Xavier University Soccer Complex, when they face the Long Island Rough Riders.
