Cincinnati Kings News Release
CINCINNATI - The Cincinnati Kings have announced the signing of three players for stretch run to the playoffs in the United Soccer Leagues Second Division. Joining the team are forward Moussa Dagnogo, defender Peter Baah, and midfielder Josh Barton.
Barton, 24, has played the previous two seasons with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the USL's First Division. The California native played college soccer at Cal State Northridge. Kings' Head Coach Jon Pickup noted Barton's "biggest strength is that he can play multiple positions in the midfield and back line."
Dagnogo, 33, joins the Kings after starting the year with the Indiana Reggae Boyz (USASA). A native of France, Dagnogo has played first division soccer in Scotland and second division in England, France, and Portugal. After coming to the United States, he joined the Indiana Blast, formerly of the USL. According to Pickup, Dagnogo will bring the "ability to finish and put the ball in the back of the net when given an opportunity."
Baah, 32, joins the Kings back line with experience from the top leagues in England. The native of Blackburn, England, Baah played for his hometown Blackburn Rovers of the English Premier League in 1991-92. He has also played for Fulham of England's Second Division, the Columbus Xoggz (USISL), Indiana Blast (USL), and the Indiana Reggae Boys (USASA). "Having played profesionally for the last 16 years in England and the US, his quality and understanding of the game is something our younger players can learn from," said Pickup.
In an unrelated roster move, forward Simon Carey and goalkeeper Nate Madden have resigned from the Kings. Carey played in five matches for the Kings totaling 150 minutes with three shots and three fouls. Madden did not appear in any of the Kings matches.
The Kings take on the Charlotte Eagles Saturday, July 9, at Xavier University with kick-off slated for 7:30 p.m. The Kings defeated the Eagles 1-0 on July 1 in Charlotte at Waddell Stadium.
