Christen Press Selected in 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft
November 12, 2020 - National Women's Soccer League (NWSL)
Utah Royals FC News Release
SANDY, Utah - The rights to Utah Royals FC forward Christen Press were among 14 picks selected by Racing Louisville FC in the 2020 NWSL Expansion Draft as part of their inaugural roster for the 2021 National Women's Soccer League season. Due to Press' status as a current allocated player, the club has received $75,000 in Allocation Money.
"We are appreciative of the contributions made by Press and wish her luck in this next chapter," General Manager Stephanie Lee said. "The decision to leave Press unprotected allowed us to focus on players we were certain would and could show up to contribute in the 2021 season, and provides us some flexibility with Allocation Money during our current transition."
Press is currently signed with Manchester United through the completion of the Barclays FA Women's Super League.
Press first joined Royals FC midway through the 2018 NWSL season and in two and a half years the forward has appeared in 25 matches, scoring ten goals and tallying four assists.
During the 2019 season Press was named the Player of the Month for August, the Player of the Week in week 17 and earned a spot on the Best XI for the fourth time in her NWSL career.
