CHL Oakley Player & Goaltender of the Week Announced

November 15, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL) News Release

Fort Worth left winger Martin Paquet and Colorado netminder Tyler Weiman have been selected as the respective recipients of the Oakley CHL Player and Goaltender of the Week awards for week four of the CHL season. Paquet scored five goals and added three assists for the Brahmas during their perfect 3-0-0 week, while rookie Weiman turned aside 58 of 59 shots in leading the Eagles to back to back wins over Rio Grande Valley.

Paquet and Brahmas linemates Bryan Lundbohm and Chad Woollard were dominant this week as the trio combined for 22 points in three Fort Worth wins. Paquet had multiple points in all three outings, with his top performance coming in a 3-2 win November 14th over Memphis. Trailing 2-0 mid-way through the opening period of play, Paquet scored three consecutive power play goals to en route to the victory. The win improves the Brahmas' record to 6-2-1 on the season, and their 13 points has them atop the Northeast Divison standings. Paquet's nine-point week moves him into a tie for third spot in the CHL scoring race with 16 points, trailing only linemate Woollard and Wichita forward Jason Duda, both with 17.

Rookie goaltender Tyler Weiman has been phenomenal for Colorado this season, and recorded two more wins the past week for the Eagles in back-to-back home games against Rio Grande Valley. On November 12th he made 27 saves in a 7-1 victory, then turned aside 31 shots the following night in a 6-0 win to pick up his CHL-leading second shutout of the year. His fine week moves him into top spot among all CHL netminders with a goals against average of just 1.04 and a save percentage of .958. The 20-year old Weiman hails from Lloydminster, Alberta, and was a fifth round selection (163rd overall) by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2002 National Hockey League Entry Draft.
