Chivas Regal Cup Comes to Giants Stadium

SECAUCUS, NJ (Monday, May 12th, 2003) - The MetroStars today announced that the champions of the New Jersey Soccer Association's (NJSA) Champions League Divisions will meet in the Chivas Regal Cup Final at Giants Stadium on Saturday, June 21 - immediately following the MetroStars match against the defending MLS Cup champion Los Angeles Galaxy at 4:00 p.m. ET. The MetroStars Reserve Team, MetroStars Black, compete in the Regional Division of the Champions League.

"We are very excited to host this event as part of a doubleheader with the MetroStars vs. LA Galaxy," said MetroStars President and General Manager Nick Sakiewicz. "This event is a great example of soccer entities working together to benefit each other, and creating a very unique promotional opportunity for a our partner."

As part of Chivas Regal's commitment to the event, all members of the Champions League teams will be provided the opportunity to purchase half price tickets to the game that day. Silver level tickets ($24) will be offered to the participating clubs for $12. Chivas Regal will also develop several promotional activities in the social clubs of many of the teams leading up to the Chivas Regal Cup. Champions League scores and standings will be regularly updated on www.metrostars.com, www.championsleaguesoccer.com, as well as highlighted in the MetroStars weekly Hispanic radio show, Solo Futbol on Radio WADO 1280AM.

Thanks to Chivas Regal's support this event should be a memorable day for all the players within the Champions League, not just those participating in the final game."

NJSA governs all adult soccer in the state of New Jersey hosting and staging tournaments and events for more than 4,000 adult players. The Champions League represents the highest level of adult competition in the region and features 18 teams - some with strong soccer traditions, such as Vistula Garfield, and new rising powers such as Tatry Slovakia and the White Eagles.
