Edmonton Chill News Release
The Edmonton Chill welcomed a new face to the fold at Thursday night's practice, but one that will be familiar to Edmonton hoops fans, Jermaine Bucknor.
Having just returned from France earlier this week, Jermaine caught up with former high school teammate Stephen Sir for a couple of workouts before attending his first practice with the Chill, where he was reunited with old friends like team captain JR Patrick and the Parker Brothers. Team Owner Troy Barns was at Eastglen High to get a first look at the former University of Richmond Spider before the two came together at courtside. There, along with Head Coach Paul Sir, they engaged in a very brief chat after which Coach Sir returned to his assistants, quietly pumping his fist. "He [Bucknor] asked me [Sir] if he could play. I told him yes before he finished the sentence," Coach Sir said with a wide smile on his face.
For now Bucknor is here and hoping to wear number 32, but the three year veteran of the European pro leagues (two years in France and one in Poland) has accepted Leo Rautin's invitation to the National Team's training camp that opens June 20th. Team Owner Troy Barns said, "I hope he can come on the road trip as well, and maybe be back for the finals...if we make it that far."
