December 7, 2015 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Coulee Region Chill News Release
The Coulee Region Chill got two of four points this past weekend as they split their series against the Springfield Jr. Blues.
Friday Night: Coulee Region Chill 3, Springfield Jr. Blues 1
It had been a month and a half since the Chill and Jr. Blues had faced each other on the ice, last playing in a weekend series on Oct. 10 and 11 in La Crosse, WI.  Both teams got off to a slow start after neither could find twine in the first period.  The second started off the scoring for the Chill as Scott Corbett scored with an assist from Phil Erickson.  Isaac Theisen made it 2-0 seven minutes later with a helper from Dom Florian before the Jr. Blues jumped on the board with their first and only goal via Brennan Blaszczak 16:38 into the second.
The Chill capped off the scoring for the night and essentially the nail in Springfields coffin in the third after defenseman Matt Doran, playing in his 62nd NAHL contest, scored his first goal of his career.
Hunter Vorva was in net for the Chill and had one of the best performances of his career as he saved 42/43 shots on the night for the win. Â The 43 shots against tied a career high as he also faced 43 shots against Springfield back on Oct. 3 of this season.
Saturday Night: Coulee Region Chill 2, Springfield Jr. Blues 3
It's been a season of close games between the Chill and Jr. Blues and Saturday night was no different. Unlike the night before the Jr. Blues got on the board first but their lead lasted just over eight minutes before Brady Ferner tied the game at one's.
The second period was a back-and-forth battle, Springfield scoring first and the Chill knotting it up at two with Ferner's second goal of the night. Â The tie only lasted :23 seconds, however, and it'd be the final scoring of the game.
Vorva was in net once again and he saw another ambush of shots, 40 in total. Â Niko Della Maggorie scored the win for the Jr. Blues after saving 30/32 shots on the night.
The Chill only have one game this weekend as they face the Minnesota Wilderness - away from home - Friday night. Â Puck drops at 7:30!
