Edmonton Chill News Release

The Chill was able to avoid black cats and broken mirrors on their longest drive of this marathon road trip tp the Midwest. The road warriors however needed no luck on this Friday night as they used their superior size and strength in the front court and controlled the Grand Rapids Flight for the full 48 minutes and came away with the win 124-111.

The Chill again showed up with just seven players but with four of them standing 6'8" or better, they were able to control the lane on both ends of the floor as the Flight featured just two players better than 6'6", one of which fouled out in the fourth. Lee Scruggs' (20 points) 16 rebounds paced the Chill with Marco Morgan and Antwon Mills also both reaching double figures in boards. Once again, Rashaun Broadus set the pace offensively with 24 points with Marco Morgan adding 23 of his own, all but two of which came from deep in the lane or on put backs on the offensive glass.

Edmonton jumped out to an early lead, scoring the first four points of the game before Grand Rapids turned a back and forth game into a slim lead after 12 minutes. In the second though, the visitors began to establish the inside game with their front court dominating the period leading to 57-51 halftime lead.

As the second half opened Edmonton clearly decided they would not lose as JR Patrick and Rashaun Broadus became very aggressive offensively driving to the goal and either hitting layups, or drawing the defense and finding open big men for dunks. The Chill played most of the final 24 minutes with a double digit lead, climbing as high as 18 and never letting Grand Rapids get closer than nine.

The Chill will wrap up this road trip tomorrow with their seventh game in nine nights against the Holland Blast. Tip time for the game will be 5:15 Edmonton time with the broadcast starting at about 5:10.
