Edmonton Chill News Release
The Edmonton Chill held their second free agent camp on February 17th and the coaching staff was very impressed with the caliber of the players who came out. "We were very very impressed with the skill level of the free agents we saw," said Chill head coach Paul Sir.
The camp attracted players from the local talent pool as well as out-of-towners from Calgary, Saskatchewan, and even a player from Los Angeles. They also came in a similar variety of sizes from several 6' point guards to a 6'11" center. The coaches ran several hours of full-court scrimmages in seven minute sets, mixing teams to see everyone's capabilities.
Of the 19 players that showed up, the coaches selected six players who they have invited back for another look later this spring, among them were two more former Golden Bear stars, Stephen Parker and Dean Whalen. In the end head coach Paul Sir felt that the camp was a "positive step in the formation of the team."
