Burlington, IA - The Peoria Chiefs beat the Burlington Bees 2-1 on Friday night at Community Field. Peoria improves to 18-28 overall and will play a double header tomorrow against the Bees with a 5:00 p.m. first pitch for game one.

The Bees got out to an early lead in the first at-bat of the game. Brennon Lund hit a leadoff home run to right-center field off Chiefs starter Mike O'Reilly to give Burlington a 1-0 lead. After allowing two straight hits, O'Reilly retired the next three hitters to work out of the inning.

The Chiefs tied the game in the third inning against Burlington starter Joe Gatto. Stefan Trosclair singled with two outs and tied the game when Andrew Young doubled to right-field to make it a 1-1 ballgame.

Peoria took their first lead of the day in the fourth inning. Ryan McCarvel led off with a walk issued by Gatto, and moved to second when Juan Yepez singled. Vince Jackson doubled to right field to score McCarvel and stake Peoria to a 2-1 lead.

Burlington threatened in the ninth inning against Austin Sexton and Brady Bowen, with Jordan Zimmerman leading off the inning with a single. Angel Almao dropped down a sacrifice bunt to move Zimmerman to second, but Sexton struck out Mario Sanjur for the second out of the inning. A walk to Juan Moreno put the go-ahead run aboard, but Bowen entered the game to get Lund to fly out to end the game.

O'Reilly (2-1) earned the win while lasting seven innings, allowing one run on seven hits with six strikeouts. Sexton threw 2 1/3 innings with a hold, while allowing three hits and a walk with a strikeout. Bowen earned his second save of the season, going 1/3 of an inning.
