Johnstown Chiefs News Release

JOHNSTOWN, Pa.- The Johnstown Chiefs, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Colorado Avalanche and Columbus Blue Jackets, and the AHL's Lake Erie Monsters and Syracuse Crunch announced today that they have hired Josh LaBarba as their Director of Corporate Sales.

"Josh is going to be a strong addition to our staff this season. He is going to get out in the community right away and help the Chiefs continue to build strong business relationships here in Johnstown," said Director of Sales Chris Catanzaro.

Hailing from Nazareth, Pa., LaBarba is working in hockey for the first time after three seasons in minor league baseball. The 33-year-old spent the last two seasons working in corporate and ticket sales for the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, the AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. He was part of a sales team that brought in a record $4.6 million in 2008. Josh got his start in baseball with the 2007 Florida State League champion Clearwater Threshers, also an affiliate of the Phillies. Prior to working in pro sports, LaBarba served in the United States Marines from 1994-99 and received an honorable discharge. He completed his education at East Stroudsburg University in 2006 with a degree in Communication.

"I'm excited to come to a team with a strong tradition and strong ties to the community like the Chiefs have. Plus it will be fun to see how another pro sports league works and to not have to work long hours in the summer," said LaBarba.
