Orange County Flyers News Release
The Fullerton Flyers ended their homestand by being swept in a doubleheader by the Chico Outlaws at Goodwin Field in front of more than 2,000 fans. The Outlaws got six runs in the 4th inning, which was capped off by a Craig Kuzmic's three-run homerun.
Mike Mallory got the scoring started with his league leading seventh homerun.
The Flyers bounced back to tie the game at 2-2 in the 3rd inning after Toshi Sasa doubled and scored.
The Flyers were down 8-2 in the bottom of the 4th, but rallied for three runs. Peanut Williams drove in two runs to key that stretch.
Down 9-5, Chad Chop crushed his fifth homerun of the season to start the Flyers 5th inning. Sasa drove in another run in the inning and the Outlaws lead was cut to one.
But a three run 6th inning for the Outlaws put the Flyers away. Jason Van Meetren drove in two runs to lead the rally.
The Flyers have now lost three consecutive games and will head out on a six game road trip to Chico and Reno.
Jeff Groeger got the loss and Phil Springman got the win in relief.
