Charlotte Independence News Release
(CHARLOTTE, N.C.) - The Charlotte Independence is pleased to announce it will be extending and expanding its partnership with its official partner, Chick-fil-A, alongside Independence Soccer Club, through 2023.
The Independence will make 2021 its first season at the brand new American Legion Memorial Stadium, while Independence Soccer Club is one of the top-10 largest, youth-to-professional clubs in the United States, with a player network of close to 12,000 members. Both clubs will aid in Chick-fil-A's effort to provide continual marketing assets, including traditional media, digital capabilities, events, and direct marketing. Chick-fil-A also will make use of prominent matchday visibility at each Independence home game and every Independence SC event to strengthen brand preference with the Club's fans and families.
In addition, Chick-fil-A will assist with work toward making the community a better place to live, while partnering with the Independence on a series of free community clinics. This on-going effort is part of the One Club, One Love initiative.
"This is a partnership we value so very much," said Charlotte Independence President & COO Tim Schuldt said. "The shared value of serving our community is what really makes this a special relationship. We are very thankful for the confidence Chick-fil-A and the Charlotte regional operators have shown with this commitment."
Chick-fil-A has been a partner of the Jacks since 2017, during which time it has worked closely with the USL Championship team. As part of the new deal, Chick-fil-A secured the rights to be a presenting sponsor of one major youth tournament and one televised home match for the first team through 2023. Chick-fil-A also secured the rights to be the presenting sponsor of the Jacks' home-opening match through 2023.
"We've valued the partnership with the Independence professional team and are thrilled to enter another year together," said Charlotte Chick-fil-A Operator Beckie Johnson. "We are also excited to now have the grassroots reach across the entire Charlotte metro region by expanding our relationship through the youth club and are equally excited about joining with the Independence to serve the community."
The 2021 USL Championship regular season will begin on or about May 1, see the teams split in to four divisions, and will contain a 32-game slate running across 27 weeks through the end of October with playoffs scheduled for November.
Located in Uptown Charlotte, American Legion Memorial Stadium will have a capacity of 10,500 including standing area, and the type of amenities that have become standard at new venues across the Championship in recent years. Among them, a first for the Independence, will be a full video scoreboard and views of the surrounding city skyline that will make for a memorable experience on game-nights and at other events. 2021 Season Tickets are now on sale to the general public here.
