Chicago Storm News Release

HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. - The Chicago Storm had a weekend of highs and lows. On Saturday, March 8, the Storm rallied past La Raza de Monterrey for an 11-9 victory at the Sears Centre Arena. Rookie Edgar Rivera netted his first Major Indoor Soccer League goal, which was a game-winning two-pointer with 18 seconds remaining. Fabinho tied the score at 9-9 with a three-pointer at the 13:29 mark of the fourth as Chicago snapped its three-game losing streak and Monterrey's seven-game winning streak. On Sunday, March 9, the Storm fell to the host Detroit Ignition, 15-7. Chicago dressed only 14 players because of a red card and several injuries. The Ignition won their fifth straight.

Next up for the Storm (14-11) is a road match against the New Jersey Ironmen at 6:30 p.m. (CST) Saturday, March 15, at the Prudential Center. The Storm can clinch a playoff spot this week if they win Saturday and California loses one of its next two matches Thursday (against Monterrey) or Sunday (against Baltimore). The Storm's next home game is at 7 p.m. March 22 against the Baltimore Blast. Following the match, Sister Hazel performs as part of the Storm's and Q101's game and a concert series, brought to you by Comcast. Tickets start at $16. Call (866) STORM-81.

Stephen Armstrong is 20th with 45 points, and he leads the league in three-point goals with eight.

- Ironmen vs. Storm, head-to-head: Chicago and New Jersey have split their two matches this season. But on Feb. 2, the Storm routed the Ironmen, 15-4, at the Sears Centre. Saturday marks the Storm's first trip to the Prudential Center.

- Chicago ties: New Jersey midfielder and defender Lazo Alavanja made his MISL debut with the Storm in 2004-05. He posted 33 blocks, 24 points and 13 assists that season. Alavanja had 45 points in 65 games for the Storm in two seasons. Alavanja currently ranks 18th in the MISL with 47 points.

- Reunion: Ironmen goalkeeper Tony Meola and Storm midfielder Stephen Armstrong played together for Major League Soccer's Kansas City Wizards. Meola, a former U.S. National Team goalie, played for K.C. from 1999 to 2004. Armstrong was a part of the K.C. organization from 2002 to 2004.

- Road/home tendencies: Chicago looks to improve its 6-6 road record after starting the season 5-0 away from home. The Storm are 8-5 at the Sears Centre. New Jersey is 6-5 at the Prudential Center and 6-7 on the road.
