Chicago Storm Places Captain Ted Chronopoulos on 15-Day DL; Signs D/M Ryan Futagaki

Chicago (Friday, October 29, 2004) - The Chicago Storm of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) announced today that the team has placed captain Ted Chronopoulos on the 15-day disabled list due to a plantar fascitis injury to his left foot. The "Yellow and Black" has signed defender/midfielder Ryan Futagaki (pronounced: foo-TUH-gok-ee) to a 5-game contract. Per league policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed. The Fountain Valley, California native will be available for the Storm for tonight's road encounter with the Milwaukee Wave at 7:05 p.m. CT, televised live on Comcast SportsNet.

The 24-year-old Futagaki last played for the Chicago Fire during the 2003 Major League Soccer campaign. The 5'7", 150-pound speedster played in six games (two starts) and registered one assist for one point during 2003. The UCLA standout was a finalist for the 2002 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy as senior and was a First-Team All-Pac-10 Selection in 2001. His international career found him as a member of the bronze medal-winning U.S.A. team in the Pan American Games in 1999 and as a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team, which advanced to the second round of the 1999 World Youth Championships. "Futo" will become the first player to play for both the Storm and the Fire.

Futagaki will wear jersey number #33 for the Storm.
