Chicago Slaughter Announce Jim McMahon As New Team Owner
CHICAGO - The Chicago Slaughter, the premier indoor football team in the Chicagoland area, has announced Jim McMahon as new team owner heading into the 2010 season. McMahon, known as the "Punky QB," led the Chicago Bears to their 1985 Super Bowl victory and was a fan favorite throughout his tenure with the team. McMahon's ownership role is another sign of momentum for the organization which continues to benefit from the expertise provided by the legendary former Chicago Bears greats who have been attracted to this winning team. Fellow 1985 Chicago Bears star Steve "Mongo" McMichael serves as the team's head coach and Jarrett Payton, son of legendary Chicago Bears great Walter Payton, was announced last month as the team's new running back. In 2009, the Chicago Slaughter went undefeated in winning the CIFL Championship. The Chicago Slaughter is entering into their fourth season of play and will compete in the IFL, the most competitive indoor football league in the nation, during the 2010 season.
"I've been a winner throughout my football career and I plan on continuing that success with the Chicago Slaughter," said Jim McMahon. "I am excited to join my friend and former teammate Coach McMichael and Jarrett Payton in bringing another football championship back to Chicago."
"The Chicago Slaughter is attracting the best and brightest because people want to be with a winner," said Chicago Slaughter head coach Steve McMichael. "Chicago football fans have another opportunity to see a McMahon, McMichael and Payton triple-threat in action. Get to the Sears Centre early on the 27th and have those cameras ready, folks...you are not going to want to miss this."
The Chicago Slaughter 2010 season kicks off at home on Saturday, February 27th against the Rochester Raiders (NY) at 7:00 pm. Chicago Slaughter fans may purchase tickets by calling the Slaughter office at (847) 310-3190 or visiting the team's website at www.chicagoslaughter.com.
