Chicago Rush mini-camp, training camp schedule announced

The Chicago Rush officially will begin its quest for ArenaBowl XIX Las Vegas on January 5, 2005, the team announced today.
The Rush will open practice by hosting a three-day mini-camp beginning Wednesday, January 5, with the start of training camp set for Monday, January 10. (See attached practice schedule). Included in this year's training camp itinerary is a trip to Grand Rapids on January 16 to scrimmage against the Rampage.
The 37-man training camp roster will feature 18 players returning from the 2004 squad that lost in the AFL semifinals to San Jose. The 19 new players added to the team's roster include nine rookies and 10 AFL veterans, highlighted by several prized free agents including defensive specialist Jeroid Johnson and lineman Chad Pegues.
"We are looking forward to the upcoming season," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "We have managed to retain a large group from last season's team and are excited about the new players we have added. Many of our players have been ready to start camp for some time now which should make for a great camp."
Mini-camp and training camp workouts will be held at the team's new practice facility, Poplar Creek Sports Centre, located at 2350 Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates. All two-a-day practices are open to the public. Coaches and players will be available to the media after the second practice each day (approximately 11:30 a.m.). Media should contact the Rush communications staff for exact practice times. The Rush is required to cut down to its regular season 24-man roster by Monday, January 24.
The Rush kicks off its fifth anniversary season in January with the 2005 home opener set for noon on Sunday, February 6, against Jon Bon Jovi's Philadelphia Soul. Rush season tickets, beginning at just $64, currently are on sale.
