Chicago Machine News Release
CHICAGO, IL - The Chicago Machine Pro Lacrosse team will seek to bounce back from a tough 3-game road series when they take on the Denver Outlaws on Sunday, June 29, in a rematch at TOYOTA PARK. Last week, Denver defeated the Machine 15-13 on a Jeff Sonke 2-point goal with 13 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
Machine attackman Kevin Leveille scored three goals in last week's game against Denver, extending his scoring streak to 41 games in a row dating back to 2004. He is second in Major League Lacrosse among scoring leaders with 20 goals, just two goals behind the league leader.
Despite the loss to Denver, Machine goalie Mike Gabel came up with 23 saves out of 36 shots attempted during the game. Gabel has allowed just 12.25 goals per game, tops in the league. He leads the league in minutes played at 362:31 and is second in save percentage at .606.
Chicago is a young team. The Machine's recently announced final 23-man roster includes five rookies drafted only a month ago. Their rookies are already climbing the stats boards, with Steven Brooks and Mike Leveille (Kevin's brother) ranked among the top 5 league rookies. Though 1-5 overall, the last four losses have been by just one goal, two of those games settled in overtime. The team is a force to be reckoned with and is ready to get back on track in the game against Denver.
