
Chicago Machine Pro Lacrosse Acquires Jarrett Park

Chicago, Illinois - The Chicago Machine professional lacrosse team has acquired Midfielder Jarrett Park in a trade with the Washington Bayhawks. Announced Friday (April 23) by Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, the Chicago Machine traded Midfielder Kevin Buchanan to the Bayhawks in exchange for Park.
Park, a graduate of Syracuse University, was drafted by the Boston Cannons in the third round (18th overall) of the 2005 MLL Collegiate Draft. He played four games for Boston that season. Park was then traded to the San Francisco Dragons prior to the 2006 season. In 2008, Park was traded after four games to Washington where he appeared in six games for the Bayhawks, scoring 3 goals and 6 assists. In 38 career regular season games, Park has scored 28 goals, including 1 two-pointer, and 26 assists for 55 points. He has also collected 157 groundballs.
While at Syracuse, Park won two NCAA National Championships in 2002 and 2004.
Buchanan graduated from Ohio State in 2008. Drafted in the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft by the Los Angeles Riptide, he played nine games for that franchise team. Buchanan was acquired by Chicago in the off season as part of the reassignment of players after the league contracted.
The Machine's home opener will take place at Soldier Field on Saturday, May 30, 2009, at 3 pm. The game will be the first time lacrosse has been played at Soldier Field.
