Chicago Fire Midfielder Harry Shipp Voted MLS Player of the Week

NEW YORK (Monday, May 12, 2014) - Chicago Fire midfielder Harry Shipp was voted Major League Soccer Player of the Week by the North American Soccer Reporters (NASR) for Week 10 of the 2014 MLS season.

The rookie netted his first MLS Career hat trick and recorded an assist Saturday night, helping the Fire earn their first win of the season -- a 5-4 victory against the New York Red Bulls.

Shipp opened the scoring in the 4th minute when he sent a right-footed shot from outside the box past Red Bulls goalkeeper Luis Robles .

With the game tied 2-2 in the 53rd minute, Fire midfielder Patrick Nyarko won the ball at the top of the box and found Shipp who took a couple of touches before shooting the ball far post for the go-ahead goal.

Just five minutes later, Shipp completed his hat trick when he disposed Red Bulls defender Kosuke Kimura, dribbled into the box and slid his third goal of the game past Robles .

In the 64th minute, Shipp assisted Nyarko's game-winning, wonder goal to give the Fire their first win of 2014.

The Fire return home Sunday to face Sporting Kansas City at 3 p.m. ET on UniMas.
