Chicago Fans Rush to Secure Walter Payton Bobble Head

October 17, 2002 â Walter Payton, one of the nation's biggest sports icons and a member of the original Chicago Rush ownership group, will be immortalized in a new limited-edition bobble head doll, the Rush announced today.
The collectable, which features Payton wearing a Chicago Rush number 34 uniform and holding a Rush helmet, is not for sale and only will be available as a reward to 2003 Rush season ticket holders.
Season tickets for the defending Central Division champions will go on sale beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, October 18. Each fan will receive one Payton doll for each season ticket purchased.
"Bringing an Arena Football team to Chicago was Walter's dream," said Connie Payton. "I know Walter would be proud of the team's success, and he would be excited to know that there is a Rush bobble head doll modeled after him."
A portion of the proceeds from Rush season ticket sales will be donated to the Walter and Connie Payton Foundation.
"Walter Payton represents football in Chicago," said Rush senior vice president/general manager Mike Polisky. "We are honored to have the Payton Foundation's continued involvement with the organization, and we are thrilled that football fans now have the opportunity to secure an official Chicago Rush Walter Payton bobble head doll."
The Rush kicks off its 2003 AFL season Sunday, February 2, at Allstate Arena against the Orlando Predators. Fans wishing to purchase season tickets, starting at $64, should call the Rush at (877) Rush-Tix (787-4849) or visit the team's Web site at www.chicagorush.com.
