Chicago started out strong against the Baltimore Bayhawks, bringing in the first two goals of the game off shots by Josh Coffman and Matt Florio, but the Machine was unable to bring in a win and ended the game 16-19. Baltimore picked up steam after Bayhawk goalie Scott Schroeder made a save on a two-point goal attempt by Kevin Boland of the Machine. The Bayhawks scored the next four points of the game with two goals by Mark Millon and a two-point goal by Mark Frye. Dan Paccione of the Machine then answered back with a goal of his own, but Bayhawk attackman Tom Marechek gave Baltimore two more goals to bring the score to 6-3 at the end of the first quarter.

Coffman attempted to spur a turnaround for the Machine in the second quarter by faking a roll to the right and then making a hard pivot to the left for a quick shot in the net to score the first goal of the half. Two more goals for the Machine by Leveille brought up the Chicago score, but the Bayhawks were able to score six points during the quarter to end the first half with Baltimore leading 12-6.

At the beginning of the second half, Chicago made a rush on goal scoring three goals in the first ninety seconds. The teams went back and forth with three goal scoring sprees that ended when Baltimore's Mike Mollot scored a point with only six seconds left in the third quarter, bringing the score to 16-13.

Although the Machine outscored the Bayhawks in the second half, Chicago was unable to bring in a win and ended the game in Baltimore 16-19. Leading scorer for the game was Mark Millon of the Baltimore Bayhawks with 6 goals.

"We would be on fire and then not keep it going," stated Machine Head Coach Kevin Finneran. "Next week we will finally be playing on our home field and we hope to bring in a 'W'."

The Machine will host their home-opener next weekend on June 3, 2006 when the San Francisco Dragons come to Chicago.
