Chesapeake Tide News Release
Upper Marlboro, MD - January 11, 2008. The Chesapeake Tide of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) named John Wolfe as their General Manager today. In this role Wolfe will be responsible for overseeing all operations of the second year club. "The Tide has built a solid fan base, drawing fans from Baltimore to Washington and Southern Maryland to Northern Virginia, and I am ready to continue to grow the team's fan base. Owner Marty Johnson, Coach Steeple, and his staff put together a playoff team last season. I hope to build on their success and provide a quality football team, and experience, to the fans of this region," stated Wolfe.
Wolfe, who served as the General Manager, and later Vice President of the Baltimore Blackbirds in 2006 and 2007, brings twenty years of event, project and sports management experience to the Tide, as well as over ten years in retail and ticket sales. A resident of Pasadena, Maryland, Wolfe graduated from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He has coached over 35 seasons, since 1986, in various sports, including football at the youth and high school level.
"John brings a wealth of experience to our front office. His knowledge, coupled with Coach Steeple's excellent staff, will provide Tide fans with an exciting 2008 season," said Tide Owner Marty Johnson.
The Tide who play at The Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, are set to kick off the 2008 season on March 21st, at home, against the defending CIFL Champions, the Rochester Raiders. Season and Group tickets are currently on sale. Please go to www.chesapeaketide.com for more details.
