Chesapeake Tide Lose In A Shootout.

STEUBENVILLE, OH -- The Chesapeake Tide of the Continental Indoor Football League (CIFL) suffered the first loss in franchise history. In front of 1,450 fans at St. John Arena, the Tide came up short in a 65-55 road defeat to the Steubenville Stampede on Friday night.

The Tide (1-1) got herculean efforts from Tavis Laws and Joe Able, who combined for six touchdowns. Laws returned to kicks to the endzone and scored on a one-yard rush. Able caught two scores from Quarterback Chris Thompson, and rushed for another. Mike Kelley also fought through the tough Stampede defense for a touchdown rush and reception.

On the defensive side, Sammie Jenkins led the team with 11.0 tackles and Leonte Collins grabbed an interception.

Stampede Quarterback Ryan Maiuri led his team (3-0) to the scoreboard just 2:38 into the contest with a 11-yard strike to T.R. Dues. Maiuri finished with four touchdown passes, while rushing for three more. Maurice Walker ran for two scores, as well. Joe McClendon picked off Thompson twice, while Sam Scharinger had one interception.

The Tide return to action Saturday, April 21 at Show Place Arena against the Rochester Raiders. Kickoff is set for 7:05pm.
