Checkers Agree to Terms with Micflikier

CHARLOTTE, NC-Charlotte Checkers head coach and general manager Jeff Daniels announced today that the team has agreed to terms with winger Jacob Micflikier.

Micflikier, 26, appeared in 59 games with the Albany River Rats last season and ranked tied for third in scoring with 40 points (18 g, 22 a). He also chipped in with a goal and an assist in seven Calder Cup playoff games. In 115 career American Hockey League games with Albany, Rochester and Springfield, Micflikier has 26 goals and 39 assists.

The Winnipeg, Manitoba native also appeared in 16 games with the Florida Everblades (ECHL) in 2009-10 where he recorded nine goals and 23 assists, including a six-point performance (3g, 3a) in a 7-0 victory over Charlotte on Nov. 5. He has 93 points (29g, 64a) in 55 career ECHL games with Florida and Stockton.

Prior to turning professional, Micflikier played four seasons at the University of New Hampshire where he helped the Wildcats to four consecutive NCAA Division I tournament appearances. In 154 career collegiate games, Micflikier scored 58 goals and added 92 assists for 150 points.

The Checkers' home opener is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 15 at Time Warner Cable Arena.
