NEW YORK - For the third time eight weeks, Atlanta Silverbacks forward Jaime Chavez scored NASL Team of the Week honors, the league announced Wednesday - this time after Atlanta shared points with Indy Eleven in a 1-1 draw on Saturday at Atlanta Silverbacks Park. All in all, its the 28-year-old striker's fourth league recognition of the Fall Season; he also earned NASL Play of the Week for his acrobatic bicycle kick goal in Week 3.

"It's always important to appreciate when others recognize your hard work," Chavez said. "It never gets old - earning NASL honors - but, at the same time, I refuse to be satisfied with it. I am a part of a team and, as a team, we have goals that we want to reach. At the end of the day, Team of the Week positions don't get you into the playoffs; they don't win you games. That's what we are focused on, from the coaching staff to the last player on the team sheet.

"I am humbled and honored by the selection, but we have bigger targets in our sights."

Chavez produced an impactful 90 minute shift on Saturday, peppering Indy with four shots on goal. He found the back of the net in the 76th minute with an impossibly creative chip of Indy's Kristian Nicht from the tightest of endline angles. The strike floated toward an open goal, but a pair of Indy backliners bounced it off each other for what would eventually be ruled as an own goal off Greg Janicki. The goal equalized the Silverbacks against the 10-man Eleven, who took a 6th minute lead off a debatable handball penalty call.

The Atlanta goal that Chavez created was a small preview of the dynamic attacking danger the 6-foot-tall forward provided while playing off strike partners Pedro Mendes and Junior Burgos. The Silverbacks dominated Indy in attacks (20-4), corner kicks (4-3), free kicks (21-14), total shots (20-8) and shots on frame (3-1). Atlanta held the ball for 65 percent of the match, allowing Indy just 35 percent possession.

With Week 8 in the books, the Silverbacks and Chavez have their sights set on FC Edmonton, who enters Atlanta Silverbacks Park this Saturday (7:30 p.m.), presented by Univision, after a 2-0 loss to Fort Lauderdale Strikers on Sunday.
