Jackson Generals News Release

JACKSON, TENN. (AUGUST 26, 2014) -The Chattanooga Lookouts (31-32/57-75) used a long five-run sixth inning to take the rubber match of the set against the Generals (29-36/60-74) 8-2 Tuesday. Jackson had their opportunities, as they loaded the bases in the sixth and eighth and also had runners on second and third in the seventh. Jackson only mustered two runs and stranded 12 runners on the bases during the home finale. The loss gives Chattanooga the series win, 3-2 and overall season series, 8-7.

The loss means Jackson remains three games back in the division with five to play, but mathematically eliminates the Generals. Tennessee and Chattanooga are tied for first in the North standings and play the final series in Chattanooga beginning Thursday to determine the second half title.

Chris O'Brien began things for the Lookouts as he went deep in the second inning for his fifth home run of the season, a solo shot that gave Chattanooga the early 1-0 lead.

In the fourth, Scott Schebler walked to lead things off and Daniel Mayora followed with his eighth long ball and the lead grew to 3-0.

Chattanooga then took complete control in the sixth. Corey Seager doubled home Angel Sanchez and Daniel Mayora and then Seager scored on a two-bagger by Chris O'Brien to increase the lead to 6-0. Jeremy Hazelbaker followed with an RBI single to bring in O'Brien and two batters later Noel Cuevas singled home Hazelbaker and lead was 8-0 after five and half innings.

Jackson would create some chances though offensively. They loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth behind a single and two walks and Jordy Lara (2x2, RBI, 2 BB) walked to allow Dan Paolini (1x5, R) to score the team's first run.

In the seventh the Generals picked up a two-out RBI single from Pat Kivlehan (1x4, RBI, BB) that brought home Patrick Brady (2x4, R) to cut the lead to 8-2.

Jeremy Kehrt (2-0, 2.08) earned his second win of the year with Chattanooga as he allowed only one run on four hits in 5.1 innings. Victor Sanchez (7-6, 3.99) struck out six, but allowed five runs on five hits in 5.1 innings as he suffered the loss for Jackson.

The Generals have an off day Wednesday before they travel to Montgomery to begin their final regular season series of the season with the Biscuits Thursday. Jackson will send Tyler Pike (3-4, 8.37) to the mound as Mike Colla (7-12, 4.60) will make the start for Montgomery. The game will begin at 7:05 p.m. and can be heard on 96.5 ESPN, TuneIn Radio and jacksongeneralsbaseball.com.
