
Charlotte Sting To Host Read To Achieve Tip-off Event

Charlotte Sting News Release
The Charlotte Sting will host a Read To Achieve tip-off assembly and reading time-out at Walter G. Byers Elementary School on Wednesday, May 26 at 2 p.m. The entire Sting roster along with Bobcats/Sting President Ed Tapscott, Sting GM and Head Coach Trudi Lacey and Sting Assistant Coaches Cheryl Reeve and Fred Williams will be on hand to discuss the importance of reading. In addition, Sting players will share with students some of their favorite books. The Sting's mascot B.B. Sting and the Hip-Hop Spirit Squad will also participate in the event.
Walter G. Byers Elementary School is located at 1415 Hamilton Street, Charlotte North Carolina and is home to 360 students.
Read To Achieve is a year-round campaign designed to promote the value of reading and on-line literacy and encourages families and adults to read regularly with children. Supported by all NBA, WNBA, and NBDL teams, the Read To Achieve program includes thousands of reading time-outs, the donation of books and literacy materials and the creation of Reading and Learning Centers and Reading Corners throughout the world.
