Charlotte Adds Forward/Midfielder from Seattle

Charlotte, NC -- The Charlotte Eagles are pleased to announce the addition of forward/midfielder David Estrada on loan from the Seattle Sounders FC of Major League Soccer.

Estrada, 26, was born in Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico but moved to California at an early age. He was a standout at Alisal High School in Salinas, California where he led the nation in scoring his senior year with 66 goals, including 11 in one game.

After high school Estrada played collegiately UCLA where he received All-Pac 10 honors in all four of his seasons. He was named Soccer America's National Freshman of the Year while becoming the team's leading scorer (12 goals and three assists) and was named UCLA Offensive MVP. Estrada finished his UCLA career with 22 goals and 13 assists.

Following his UCLA career Estrada was drafted 11th overall in the 2010 MLS SuperDraft by the Seattle Sounders. After making his MLS debut against the New York Red Bulls in April of 2010, Estrada would go on to make three appearances for the club in 2010. 2012 proved to be Estrada's breakout season as he scored five goals in 17 games.

Estrada became the third Sounders player ever to record a hat-trick in game, scoring three goals against Toronto FC on March 17th, 2012. He was the Sounders third leading goal scorer in 2012 with his five goals.

NOTES: Estrada was named 2012 Sounders Humanitarian of the Year...Played with former Charlotte Eagle Eric Reed on UCLA's 2006 team... 11 goals in one game, the second-most single-game goals in California history.
