Jacksonville Sharks News Release

JACKSONVILLE - The ArenaBowl XXIV Champion Jacksonville Sharks announced Thursday that the team has activated WR/LB Charlie Hunt from Injured Reserve.

The 29-year-old Hunt (6'4", 225) was assigned to the Sharks' roster in mid-October, but was placed on injured reserve following the team's preseason scrimmage against the New Orleans VooDoo. Hunt is now eligible to play for the Sharks as early as this weekend's game in Cleveland.

In 2011, Hunt appeared in 13 regular-season games, making 12 starts at "Jack" linebacker. He recorded 42 solo tackles, 55.5 total tackles and four interceptions, ranking fourth on the team in all three categories. Against the Iowa Barnstormers on May 13, 2011, Hunt became the first Shark to intercept three passes in the same game.

Before joining the Sharks, Hunt spent two seasons in the American Indoor Football Association, playing for the Utah Saints in 2009 and the Wyoming Cavalry in 2010. The Jacksonville native attended Episcopal High School and played collegiately at Florida State.

To make room for Hunt on the 24-man active roster, the Sharks placed defensive back Bryan Evans on injured reserve.

The Jacksonville Sharks are members of the Arena Football League (AFL). The ArenaBowl XXIV and back-to-back South Division Champions are presented by Sea Best Seafood and play all home games on Sea Best Field at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
