AKRON, OH. - July 20, 2015 - Charge pitcher Morgan Melloh (1-5) pitched six shutout innings and the Dallas offense provided her with plenty of support as the Charge (12-20) topped the Akron Racers 9-0 on Monday night at Firestone Stadium.

"I felt great tonight, I felt my defense really helped me out a lot," Melloh said. "I was just trying to get the ground balls."

Melloh was able to use her defense to pitch out of a few jams, as Akron (14-16) put a runner in scoring position in each of the first five innings, but couldn't get the necessary clutch hits.

Melloh allowed just six hits and two walks, while striking out three.

While Melloh was holding Akron's offense at bay, Dallas got to Racer starting pitcher Rachele Fico early. In the top of the first inning, Dallas jumped ahead with a two-run homerun by designated player Lauren Haeger that brought in Eri Yamada.

The Charge plated two more runs in the second inning on three doubles. Second baseman Taylor Thom smacked a double into left field. Renada Davis also doubled to left field to score Thom. Yamada followed suit and ripped a double down the left field base line, which advanced Davis home.

"These kind of losses fall on me," Racer manager Brian Levine said. "It's a lack of preparation."

A home run by right fielder Brianna Cherry put Dallas ahead 5-0, and a two-run home run by leftfielder Angeline Quiocho in the fifth inning extended the lead even further.

The Charge would add their final two runs in the seventh inning on an RBI double by Davis and an RBI single by Haeger.

"You have got to trust the process, you have to bounce back and keep working," Racers designated player Nerissa Myers said as the team wraps up their four-game series with Dallas Tuesday night at Firestone Stadium.

Myers and Akron leftfielder Jessica Garcia both ended the night with two hits, including a double to lead the Racers offense. In the top of the fourth inning, Jen Gilbert laid out over the right field fence to snag a rocket hit by Charge third baseman Nadia Taylor.

Dallas was led by Haeger (2 for 5, 3 RBI, 1 run), Davis (3 for 4 2 runs, 2 RBI) and Quiocho (2 for 2, 2 RBI, 1 run)
