Charge Set for Exhibition Versus Power

Philadelphia, PA (April 2, 2002) - The Philadelphia Charge will battle the New York Power Sunday, April 7 at 6 p.m. in a preseason game at the Indian Hills High School in Oakland, New Jersey. General admission tickets for the exhibition game are priced at $10 and can be purchased at the gate. For Charge regular-season ticket information call 215-467-GOAL.

The Charge are 4-1-1 this preseason, outscoring their opponents 30-9. Philadelphia expects to have a full squad for the game, with the exception of forward Marinette Pichon, who has been called to duty for the French national team.

A number of players from both the Power and Charge played collegiate soccer in New Jersey, including Philadelphia midfielder and captain Kelly Smith, who attended Seton Hall University and is a member of England's national team. Also, former Charge goalkeeper and current Power star Saskia Webber was a collegiate standout at Rutgers. The game will mark the professional debut in New Jersey of Power defender Christie Pearce, the Point Pleasant native who starred for Monmouth University.

The Charge open their regular-season schedule on Saturday, April 13 in Atlanta against the Beat starting at 7 p.m. Philadelphia will then travel to New York to face the Power on Saturday, April 27 at 7 p.m. before making its home debut at Villanova Stadium on Saturday, May 4 at 7 p.m. against the Boston Breakers. The home opener for the Charge will be Lorrie Fair bobblehead doll night courtesy of Got Milk, when the first 2,000 kids 14 and under will receive the collector's item.
