Huntsville, AL â The Huntsville Channel Cats jumped out to a 2-0 in the first period and held on for a 4-2 win over the Knoxville Ice Bears on Friday night.
Allan Carr put the Cats on the board at the 11:22 mark of the first with an assist from James Patterson and Dan Kletke. Luke Phillips added another goal at the 12:42 mark with an assist from Joel Bresciani.
K.J. Vorhees added an unassisted goal at the 7:54 mark of the second period.
Carr responded with a goal at the 13:29 mark with an assist from Bresciani and Phillips.
Chris Bodnar pulled the Ice Bears to 3-2 with 1:20 gone in the third period. Alex Alepin and Craig Desjarlais had the assist.
Luke Phillips added an empty net goal with :27 left in the game with an assist from Kletke.
Matt Carmichael stopped 38 shots in the win, while Blaine Russell stopped 23 in the loss.
The Channel Cats make the trip to Knoxville tomorrow night for a rematch.
