Cleveland Monsters News Release

Cavaliers forward/center Anderson Varejao was originally slated to appear, along with Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson, at the Monsters "Cavs Night" next Saturday, February 12th (presented by Time Warner Cable). Anderson suffered an ankle injury during a team practice recently that requires surgery. His upcoming surgery will unfortunately prevent him from being able to make the appearance.

Anderson regrets not being able to appear and appreciates the great outpouring of support he has received during this difficult time. He wishes the Monsters and Monsters fans the best as they make their playoff push over the remainder of their season. He is also looking forward to a successful surgery and getting into his rehabilitation process so he can get back on the court and prepared for the 2011-12 Cavaliers season.

Cavaliers guard Daniel Gibson will still appear at Cavs Night with the Monsters, as scheduled. In addition, Cavaliers guard Manny Harris and Cavaliers guard/forward Christian Eyenga will also now participate. Joining them from FOX Sports Ohio will be play-by-play announcer Fred McLeod and color analyst and Cavs Legend Austin Carr. The players and broadcasters will hold a free pregame autograph session from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on February 12th before the Monsters host the Grand Rapids Griffins at 7:30.

Also as a part of the festivities, the first 5,000 fans to the game will receive a free Joe Tait bobblehead.

Tickets for the February 12th game begin at just $10 and are available by calling 216-420-0000, visiting LakeErieMonsters.com, the Quicken Loans Arena Box Office or any Northern Ohio Discount Drug Mart.
