Champlain Cup Kicks Off In Barre With Heaves Victory

Barre, VT - The Vermont Frost Heaves and Quebec Kebs kicked off the 2010 Champlain Cup series in Barre this afternoon and the Frost Heaves garnered a hard fought 110-107 victory.

With the unique point system for the Champlain Cup, winning a quarter gets that team 1 point, winning the half gets that team 2 points and with any ties, each team gets a ½ point.

With today's game Vermont earned 4 ½ points and the Kebs earned 2 ½ points.

Vermont was led in scoring by newcomer Brandon Cotton who arrived on Saturday with 30 points,

5 rebounds followed by Brandon Ball with 23 points and 2 rebounds,.

D'Lancey Carter chipped in with 13 points and 7 boards and Troy Jackson added 12 points and 6 boards.

Quebec was led in scoring by Cordell Jeanty with 17 points.

Quebec will face the Manchester Millrats on Monday night in Barre at 7:05 in the second game of the series.

The Champlain Cupp will conclude on Tuesday night when the Frost Heaves and Millrats square off in their first encounter of the season.

Tickets for both games are available at First in Fitness in Montpelier and Allen Lumber in Barre.

Tickets will also be available at the door one hour prior to tipoff.
