Shreveport-Bossier Captains News Release

SHREVEPORT, La. - After their dramatic comeback in Game 5 of the South Division Championship Series to knock off Pensacola three games to two and advance to the American Association Championship Series for the first time in team history - and the second time in franchise history that they have made it this far (after also beating Pensacola in the first round in 2004), the Shreveport-Bossier Captains will now take on the Sioux Falls Pheasants, who won both halves in the North Division and swept Lincoln 3-0 in the North Division Championship Series.

The Captains will host the first two games at Fair Grounds Field on Tuesday, September 7 and Wednesday, September 8, both at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available by calling 636-5555 or visiting the Fair Grounds Field box office.

After a travel day Thursday, the teams will play Friday night in Sioux Falls, with Games 4 and 5 on Saturday and Sunday, if necessary.

The pitching matchup in Game 1 features two 11-game winners, the Captains' Osvaldo Rodriguez against the Pheasants' Ben Moore. The two matched up at Fair Grounds Field in August, with Moore outdueling Rodriguez 1-0 through their seven-inning outings.

On the season, Rodriguez was 11-3 with a 3.50 ERA, while Moore led the league in strikeouts and innings pitched, finishing 11-8 with a 3.10 ERA, 133 2/3 innings and 126 strikeouts.

Each hurler has also had a strong start in the playoffs, with Rodriguez winning Game 2 against Pensacola with 5 1/3 innings of one-run baseball, while Moore took a no-decision in Game 1 against Lincoln, allowing one run in seven strong innings with three walks and 10 strikeouts.

After the Pheasants won the teams' first meeting this year, the Captains came back to win the second game, with Game 3 starter Richard Salazar pitching for Shreveport-Bossier and Game 2 starter Chris Salberg going for Sioux Falls.

Ryan DiPietro will start Game 2 of the Championship Series against Salberg, while Ryan Rodriguez will go in Game 3 for Sioux Falls against Salazar - with all four starters in those two games being left-handed.

All games are broadcast streaming live on ustream.tv. For information on tickets, promotions, advertising, and other opportunities with the Captains, check out the team's Web site at www.sbcaptains.com, or call the Fair Grounds Field office at (318) 636-5555.
