Champion City Pulls away from Aviators

July 13, 2018 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Lafayette Aviators News Release

Lafayette's third meeting with Champion City in two days got off to a slow start. Unfortunately, the Aviators couldn't match when the Kings picked up the pace.

The first run of the night wasn't scored until the top of the 4th by the visiting Kings. Starting pitcher Jacob Gilmore, along with the rest of the Aviator defense, did well keeping Champion City off the scoreboard. Gilmore played six full innings and allowed just six hits.

In the 7th, Lafayette finally brought in a Bryce Ball run, due to the Kings' ONLY error of the game. Champion City, however, would follow that up with a three-run inning in the 8th, during which Kam Smith broke a panel in the leftfield wall catching a warning track sacrifice fly.

The Aviators get a day off before traveling to Springfield for a game with the Sliders on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 5:05 pm.
