Dodge City Law News Release

The Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce and the Dodge City Law held a press conference on Thursday to announce the results of the Chamber's "Reliving the Dream" combine.

Four participants from the combine will have the chance to suit-up and play in the Dodge City Law's exhibition game on Saturday, Feb. 22 against the Missouri Mustangs.

Jarrett Brown and Shadd Bostlemann will be representing Cargill Meat Solutions. Opie Astorga will be representing National Beef and Raymond Villanueva will be representing Nex-Tech. A fifth participant, Sergio Holguin representing United Wireless, suffered a knee injury a week before the combine.

Law Head Coach Sean Ponder said he is excited for the first exhibition game and to see the combine participants take the field.

"This partnership that we have with the Chamber is really neat because it will give folks from the community the chance to see what a day in the life of a professional football player is like," Ponder said. "It will be really cool to see them suit-up and play a few downs."

The participants will sign "contracts" on Saturday at the Chamber banquet which will precede the game.

"Everybody is saying "contracts" with quotes around the word," Ponder said. "But, these are real contracts. Once the players sign them, they work for me."

Opie Astorga, one of the players, is excited about the chance he will have to play in the Law's exhibition game.

"This is an opportunity that lots of folks want to experience, but never get to," Astorga said. "It's a great honor to be able to take the field with these athletes."

The Law's partnership with the Chamber of Commerce, among other efforts, has shown that the team wants to engage the people of Dodge City and build lasting relationships.

Dan Schenkein, the president and CEO of the Chamber, believes that the Law has proven to be a good partner for local businesses and an active member of the community.

"The Dodge City Law is an exceptional addition to our sports, business, and entertainment community," Schenkein said. "The business community is thrilled to have the team here."

Dodge City Mayor Kent Smoll praised the team for making an effort to be a part of the community.

"The Law has integrated into the community very well," Smoll said. "I know the community will support them."
